On Thursday 13/10 in Aarhus we celebrate one of Danish Music Lifes greatest minds and personalities.
By many regarded the most important figure in Danish music perhaps only 2nd to Carl Nielsen. It is a great honor that Per Nørgård has dedicated his work ‘Recall’ for accordion and orchestra to me and I look very much forward to next weeks performance with the Aarhus Symphony Orchestra and Giordano Bellincampi. This concert will also feature one of Nørgårds later master pieces of orchestral music ‘Terrain Vague’ (2000) which features an important accordion part. Cosmic and mindblowing rythmic architecture meets original orchestrastion in this beautiful piece. Nørgårds piece is inspired these lines from the poem ‘Terrain Vague’ by Klaus Rifbjerg :
“There were wild oats
And the soil was black
But sparkled
When the sun was out
The air sharp in the nostrils
Hard to define
Somewhere between knife coal and
Acid and that special light and sweet
Whiteness thornbushes exhale.
It was nothing special
Because everything was special…”
